ICSB ORGANISED NEW MEMBERS RECEPTION PROGRAMME

Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) has organized a reception programme for the newly registered members of the Institute on Monday, 4 December 2023 at Holiday Inn Dhaka. Mr. Tapan Kanti Ghosh, Senior Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Forty-One (41) qualified members who became Associate Members were accorded a warm reception by the Institute.

The reception programme began with an introductory speech on ICSB and its brief history by Mr. Md Zakir Hossain, Secretary & Chief Executive Officer of ICSB and congratulated the new members of ICSB.

Mr. Oli Kamal FCS, Chairman of Membership & Registration Committee delivered a welcome address and discussed the importance of Chartered Secretaries in the private sector. He also said that newly registered members’ knowledge, skill and integrity will be tested not only in the examination halls but also in the highly competitive and challenging work environment.

On behalf of the newly registered members, three Associate Members- Mr. Md. Ibrahim Hossain ACS, Ms. Happy Dey ACS and Mr. Mahmudul Hasan ACS expressed their deepest gratitude and thanks to the teachers, senior members and officials of ICSB. They said that without their support it would have been difficult for them to become Chartered Secretaries. They also mentioned that learning from ICSB would surely add value to their career.  

Mr. M Nurul Alam FCS, Senior Vice President of ICSB and Member of Membership & Registration Committee delivered an informative presentation for the new members on professional ethics. In his presentation, he discussed about the professional code of conduct of ICSB, ethical principles for CS, professional duties of Chartered Secretaries.  

Mr. Mohammad Asad Ullah FCS, President of the Institute said that this is a special day for newly registered members. On this occasion, he expressed his deepest appreciation to the newly registered members for attending the programme. He also said that it is the beginning of a new phase, where learning increases in intensity, depth and scope. He urged the newly registered members to be the brand ambassador of this profession.

Speaking at the event as a Chief Guest, Mr. Tapan Kanti Ghosh, Senior Secretary, Ministry of Commerce welcomed and congratulated all the new Members of ICSB. He said that Chartered Secretaries need to know about professionalism, ethics, non-discrimination, morality, empathy, international compliance issues, ESG, renewable energy, etc. and practice them in regular activities.

He also mentioned that we are becoming a developing country by 2026 so we need to work on revenue collection and reform tariff policy. Though we earn a good amount of foreign currencies from the RMG sector but we need to develop 4-5 new diversified export sectors for sustainable development of our economy. Chartered Secretaries are the vital person of all companies and they have to play an important role in achieving these development targets sustainably by 2041.  

After delivering his valuable speech Chief Guest Mr. Tapan Kanti Ghosh handed over crests to the new Members of ICSB.

At the end, Mr. Abul Fazal Mohamed Rubayat FCS, Member of Membership & Registration Committee concluded the session with a vote of thanks to the Chief Guest, Council Members and all participants of the programme on behalf of the Institute.
